The City Room Blog from The New York Times was alive today with bad blood from school kids towards the mayor, over the lack of a snow day. With nine inches of snow on the ground, many children were outraged to hear that school was in session. The column was interesting to read because of an issue that lives within every student's heart, more snow days. It was easy to read because the writing style was playful and the use of networking sites like Twitter were used along side school children views on the events of today.
The Quad Blog from The New York Times is centered around college sports, which can sometimes be dry with lots of "sports talk" that not everyone understands, was very interesting to read. It began talking about how the appearance of Micky Ward, who has recently been portrayed in the movie "The Fighter", helped teach the team about perseverance and giving all you have. Ward was unable to attend the movie with the team because of recent health problems with his mother, which added a human element to not only the story but Ward as well.
The Lede Blog from The New York Times focuses on news and had a very interesting article about protesting on the Web. For Tunisians the Web has been a way to get information out about recent clashes with security forces. One activist was arrested and alerted the world by using his phone with the application FourSquare to reveal his location. The use of the Web doesn't end there, it also includes video clips uploaded to YouTube. This blog was easy to read because of the flow and writing style but it also intrigues the reader to look beyond the use of the Web for e-mailing and researching, but to see it as a platform for activists.
